Chevrolet has always been good at commemorative edition vehicles and its latest edition is no exception.

The 2013 Corvette 427 Collector Edition marks the 60th anniversary of America's fiberglass sports car.  More than a decal package, Chevy says the 427 is the fastest and best handling convertible in the Corvette's history.
The softop features the 427-cubic-inch LS7 engine from the Z06, which speeds up the road with 505 horsepower and 470-pound-feet of torque.
It will be available only with a six-speed manual when it arrives in showrooms this summer.  To help generate buzz, Chevrolet auctioned off the first (VIN #0001) 427 Collector Edition at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale collector car auction where it went for an astounding $600,000.
Chevrolet points out early 427-powered Corvettes that were offered from 1966 to 1969 are some of the most coveted Corvettes ever produced, implying the 2013 will find a similar spot in collectors' garages in the decades to come.
The 2013 Collector Edition features exclusive Arctic White exterior with Pearl Silver Blue racing stripes, Blue Diamond leather-wrapped interior, and 60th Anniversary logos.
Hendrick Motorsports teamed up for the auction, with four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Jeff Gordon and team owner Rick Hendrick, to raise a total of $700,000 for the AARP’s Drive to End Hunger charity.
