Photo Gallery | First Coast Gears: Ford’s Escape gets a real styling ‘Focus’

JACKSONVILLE, fla -- Although it’s not confirmed, chances are good we’ll see the Ford’s next generation 2013 Escape at the Jacksonville International Car and Truck Show at the Prime Osborn Convention Center, February 17-19, 2012.

The 2013 Escape is on display this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show.  It looks like a bulked-up Focus with styling that is fluid and modern.

The standard engine is a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder, making 168 horsepower and 167 pound-feet of torque.  An all-new 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 173 hp and 177 lb-ft will also be offered while top-of-the-line Escapes will get  the 2.0-liter EcoBoost with 237 hp and 250 lb-ft.

Ford spokeswoman Angie Kozleski told First Coast News that the Escape Hybrid is being discontinued but pointed out the main Escape’s gas mileage will be increased by about five-miles-per-gallon via the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine. EPA mileage estimates for the next-generation Escape aren’t available yet.

Ford is moving its hybrid technology to the C-Max, which will be a plug-in hybrid that Ford is calling a five passenger “multi-activity vehicle.”
