JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars owner Shahid Khan made a splash in February when he brought his yacht, the Kismet, to Jacksonville. It's been anchored in front of the Hyatt Regency hotel since then. We don't know why yet but we spotted Khan's yacht leaving downtown around 8 a.m. Friday. We also spotted it on the other side of the Hart Bridge, seemingly pulling in again.
The Kismet is big enough to warrant its own website and is also up for sale for about $112 million. If you've got that kind of money, you can make an enquiry here.
But even if you can afford it, don't forget about upkeep. When we talked to a crew member back in February, they were adding more than 15,000 gallons of diesel fuel. The yacht can hold a total of 55,000 gallons. Two 18-wheelers were used to deliver the last fill up.
Marinefuel.com, out of Coconut Grove, Florida, reported an average marine diesel price of $4.33 in February. Based on that price, $64,950 worth of fuel was transferred from the tankers to the yacht.
And if you think that's bad, just imagine if you decided to let the gauge get all the way to empty and had to fill all 55,000 gallons. It would cost a sum approaching a quarter million dollars to fill up, based on February's price of diesel. The total would be $238,150.
