You Should Know – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hired Greg Schiano as their head coach on Thursday.  Schiano, the long-time head coach at Rutgers, follows Raheem Morris, who was fired after a four-win season.  To my knowledge, Schiano’s name was never mentioned publicly in the Bucs’ search for a new head coach.  The team also had interest in Mike Sherman, Marty Schottenheimer, Brad Childress, Rob Chudzinski and a few others.  Schiano will be formally introduced today.

You Should Know – The Indianapolis Colts named Chuck Pagano, formerly the Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator, as its head coach on Wednesday.  Pagano, 51, will officially be introduced today.  He’s been an assistant with Baltimore since 2008, but last year was his first as the defensive coordinator.  The main question continues to be: do the Colts keep Peyton Manning?  Sounds like owner Jim Irsay will have a decision around the middle of February.

You Should Know – The Detroit Tigers signed Prince Fielder to a 9-year deal worth $214 million on Tuesday.  The Nationals and Rangers also had interest in the 27-year-old.  After the announcement of Victor Martinez’s injury last week, Detroit needed to add a big bat to the lineup.  Martinez will, most likely, miss the 2012 season due to an ACL tear.  Fielder and Miguel Cabrera should be a nice combo.  We’ll need to keep track of their weight, too.

Car Fire on Downtown Parking Structure

Car Fire on Downtown Parking Structure

According to a viewer tip an explosion was heard just before a car burst into flames on the roof of a parking structure at 300 West Forsyth Street. Another witness, Krista LaRocca, says, "There was a loud pop about 5 min into the fire, it was the tires of the white Nissan Altima next to it that popped from the heat."

ASAP Towing responded to the scene and says an Impala and Infiniti were involved in the fire. According to ASAP, the fire appears to be electrical and started in the Impala and spread to the Infiniti.
