Suns Finish Generals Series with 8-7 Win

It took extra innings, but the Jacksonville Suns (6-4) finished the series against the Jackson Generals (4-6) with a 8-7 victory in eleven innings at Pringles Park on Sunday afternoon. The Suns took four of five games from the Generals in the only series to be played between the clubs in Jackson, Tenn., in 2011.

Suns and Generals Postponed Due to Rain

Due to inclement weather surrounding Pringles Park and Jackson, Tenn., the third game of the series between the Jacksonville Suns (4-3) and the Jackson Generals (3-4) has been postponed.

The clubs will play the third and fourth games of the series in a double-header on Saturday. The first game will be played at 4:05 p.m. central time (5:05 p.m. eastern) with the second game being played approximately thirty minutes following the first game. Both games will be seven-inning contests.

Both Contests Reach Extra Innings as Suns Clinch Series Win

The Jacksonville Suns (5-4) split a double-header against the Jackson Generals (4-5) on a cool Saturday evening and night at Pringles Park.

The Suns fell in the first game 3-2 in nine innings before winning 13-7 in nine innings against the Generals. Both contests were scheduled as seven-inning contests, but twice the clubs needed extras to decide the outcome.

The Florida Marlins have announced a pair of roster moves that will impact the Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight’s game against the Jackson Generals at Pringles Park.

Right-hander Dallas Trahern has been promoted from the Suns to the Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs. Trahern made one start for the Suns, pitching six innings against the Huntsville Stars last Thursday. Trahern took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits with three walks and he also struck out two batters. Trahern leaves Jacksonville with an 0-1 record and a 4.50 ERA.

Suns Poveda Earns First Jacksonville Victory

The Jacksonville  Suns (3-3) used a pair of RBI singles and outstanding pitching to pick up a 2-0 win over the Jackson Generals (3-3) at Pringles Park on Wednesday night.

Starter Omar Poveda (1-0) earned his first Southern League victory with six scoreless innings only giving up four hits and striking out two. With the Suns ahead 2-0 going into the bottom of the ninth, reliever Sandy Rosario pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his second save of 2011 and preserve the two-run victory.

Downs Tosses Six Shutout Innings in First Start

A four-run ninth inning propelled the Huntsville Stars (3-2) to a 4-1 victory over the Jacksonville Suns (2-3) on Monday afternoon at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

The Suns led 1-0 going into the ninth, before the Stars struck for four runs off of Jacksonville reliever Peter Andrelczyk (1-1), who took the loss. Huntsville reliever Michael Fiers (1-0) earned the victory while Roque Mercedes worked a perfect ninth to earn the save as Huntsville takes the series three games to two.

Jaguars host ‘Evening with the Coaches’

The Jaguars will host an Evening with the Coaches on Tuesday, April 12th.  Fans will have the opportunity to hear from Offensive Coordinator Dirk Koetter and Defensive Coordinator Mel Tucker, and will also get a preview of April’s NFL Draft from Director of Player Personnel Terry McDonough.
