Favorable Schedule Should Help Jaguars Ticket Sales

Favorable Schedule Should Help Jaguars Ticket Sales

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The NFL lockout is causing a lot of fans to take a wait and see approach when it comes to buying season tickets for the Jaguars, but an attractive schedule that features three nationally televised games in prime time could help to fill EverBank Field this fall.

During the preseason, the Jaguars will host the Atlanta Falcons in a nationally televised game on Fox on Friday, August 19th at 8:00 p.m.  During the regular season, the Big Cats will host two Monday Night Football games.  The first is on October 24th against the Baltimore Ravens, and the second is on December 5th against the San Diego Chargers.  The Jaguars will also be featured in a Thursday Night Football game in Atlanta against the Falcons.  That game will be televised on the NFL Network.

Aaron Garcia Nears 1,000 Career TD Passes

Aaron Garcia Nears 1,000 Career TD Passes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Sharks quarterback Aaron Garcia already owns the Arena Football League's career record for touchdown passes, but he needs eight more to reach one thousand.

Garcia also owns the AFL record for most passing yards in a career with 46,377.  He and the Sharks will host the Cleveland Gladiators this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Arena.

If and when Garcia throws his 1000th career touchdown pass, the Pro Football Hall of Fame has expressed interest in obtaining the ball, jersey, and other items that will be used in the accomplishment of this milestone.  There is also a chance that Garcia could receive some coverage on ESPN for this achievement.

The Sharks are currently (4-1) and tied with Orlando for first place in the South Division.  The team is at home for the next two weeks (April 23rd and April 30th).

BayBears Edge Suns 4-2

A sixth-inning three-run homer by Mobile shortstop Taylor Harbin powered the BayBears (8-3) past the Jacksonville Suns (6-5) as Mobile took the first game of the series with a 4-2 victory on Monday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

The victory puts the BayBears two games ahead of the Suns in the race for the lead in the Southern League’s South Division. Wes Roemer (2-0) picked up the win for Mobile after going seven innings only allowing two runs on three hits. Suns reliever Jared Rogers (0-1), who was transferred to the Suns from Class A Greensboro earlier Monday, took the loss after giving up the three-run homer to Harbin.

Suns Announce Series of Roster Moves

The Florida Marlins have made a series of transactions that affects their Class Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster.

Left-handed pitcher Graham Taylor has been reinstated from the disabled list to the Suns active roster. Taylor, a Southern League All-Star with Jacksonville in 2009, missed last season recovering from left elbow UCL reconstruction “Tommy John” surgery. Taylor, a 10th round selection by the Marlins in the 2006 draft,  has seen time in the Major Leagues, pitching in three games in 2009 with the Marlins going 0-2 with a 8.18 ERA.
