You Should Know – For the first time ever in Major League Baseball, a player won an appeal of a suspension for a positive drug test.  That player, Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun, will not have to serve a 50-game suspension.  He failed a drug test back in October, and it was made public by ESPN in December.  The New York Daily News said Braun’s team challenged “the chain of custody” with the urine sample.  From Yahoo! Sports, the sample sat in a FedEx shop over the weekend, which “challenged the integrity” of it.  In a statement, Braun said, “It is the first step in restoring my good name and reputation.  We were able to get through this because I am innocent.”

You Should Know – Did you think you had heard your last “Manny Being Manny?”  Not so fast.  On Monday, it was announced that Manny Ramirez agreed to a minor-league deal with the Oakland Athletics.  Ramirez, who sat out most of last season, will serve a 50-game suspension.  The ban is due to a second failed drug test, under MLB rules.  His retirement was announced on April 8.  The deal with the A’s is worth about $500,000.  Ramirez, a 12-time All-Star, has played with Cleveland, Boston, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay.
