Jaguars Bite of the Day – Former Jacksonville running back Fred Taylor will announce the Jaguars’ second-round pick.  He’s one in a group of 33 ex-players involved in this year’s alumni program.  Last year, Donovin Darius was supposed to name the Jags’ second-rounder, but it was used to trade up for Blaine Gabbert.  Darius, instead, announced the third-round selection.

You Should Know – The New Orleans Saints denied an ESPN report on Monday accusing general manager Mickey Loomis of listening in on opposing coaches’ radio communications during games.  On Monday’s “Outside the Lines,” the report said Loomis would have been able to eavesdrop on opponents from 2002 until 2004.  A Saints spokesperson said it was “1,000 percent false.”  In an emailed statement, Loomis explained his earpiece and game-day setup.  “I have a monitor in front of me in my booth that provides the league issued stats for the game.  I have a small TV with the network broadcast and I have an earpiece to listen to the WWL-AM radio game broadcast,” Loomis stated.  Because of the Saints bounty program, Loomis is suspended for the first half of the 2012 season.

College Nugget – Arkansas announced the hiring of John L. Smith as its interim head football coach Monday afternoon.  The former head coach at Michigan State and Louisville signed a 10-month, $850,000 contract.  Smith replaces Bobby Petrino, who was fired April 10.  Smith, a former Razorbacks assistant, left Arkansas four months ago to become the head coach at his alma mater Weber State.  “I am tremendously excited to have this special opportunity to return to Arkansas and lead the Razorback football program,” Smith said in a statement.
