ABA Jacksonville Giants Basketball - The Jacksonville Giants are hosting the ABA Southeast Regional Playoffs this Saturday and Sunday.  This final game will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The Dunkin' Dancers acrobatic team are scheduled to perform at halftime.

Link of the Day – Over the weekend, former Jaguars guard Vince Manuwai signed with the Atlanta Falcons.  He later spoke with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

You Should Know – The Florida State and Florida men’s basketball programs made it into this year’s NCAA Tournament.  The Seminoles are the third seed in the East Region.  They’ll play No. 14 St. Bonaventure on Friday in Nashville.  It tips off at 2:45 p.m. on CBS.  The Gators are the West’s No. 7 seed and will play Virginia in Omaha.  On Friday, the two begin action on TNT at 2:10 p.m.

Jaguars Bite of the Day – Jaguars.com spoke with cornerback Derek Cox, who is entering his fourth season.  The 25-year-old Cox was a starter in his first two seasons.  In 2011, he was held back by a number of injuries.  “Your mindset is always fixated on playing the best you can play.  I take that mindset year in and year out,” Cox told the team’s site.  In six games last year, he had 16 tackles playing alongside Rashean Mathis, who signed a one-year deal last week to return to the Jags.  Talking about the Cox-Mathis tandem, Cox stated, “When you see how well we did, you do wonder what it would be like to finish that out, and create that name around the league where people know, ‘these corners are a force to be reckoned with.’”

College Football Nugget – Penn State landed a solid tight end commitment for its 2013 recruiting class Friday night.  Adam Breneman, in a news conference at Cedar Cliff High School, chose the Nittany Lions over Maryland, Notre Dame and Ohio State.  The top junior tight end is expected to be a five-star recruit.  Breneman, listed a 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, has more than 30 scholarship offers.  He’s coming off torn labrums in each shoulder and is expected to start catching passes again in April.

Broadcasting Note – Here are the broadcast announcing assignments for the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

Strange Thought of the Day – ESPN experts Dick Vitale and Digger Phelps both picked Florida State to make it to the Final Four.  Are the Seminoles capable of beating a second-seeded Ohio State team in Boston?

Tweet of the last 24 hours – @IraSchoffel (Ira Schoffel, Tallahassee Democrat sports editor) “Unreal.  The ACC got five teams in the NCAA Tournament.  FSU went 7-1 against those four other teams.”

Stat(s) of the Day – For this year’s NCAA Tournament, the four No. 1 seeds are Kentucky, Syracuse, North Carolina and Michigan State.  The Michigan State Spartans are the only top seed to win their conference tournament.  Head coach Tom Izzo has led the Spartans program to the NCAA Tournament for the last 15 straight years.  Nine of those appearances have been Sweet Sixteen or better.

Video of the Day – In his third game in the Indoor Football League, former NFL star Terrell Owens was knocked over the wall after a catch.

Question of the Day – How much longer will Peyton Manning take to select his new team?
