Scott Appoints Replacement for Late Judge Morrow

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Judge Kevin Blazs will fill the seat left vacant by the death of long-time Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Jefferson W. Morrow.

Gov. Rick Scott appointed the Jacksonville native Monday.

"Throughout his impressive 24-year legal career, Judge Blazs has defended, prosecuted and presided over both criminal and civil cases, providing him with a vast knowledge of the law and procedure," Scott said.

"Equally impressive is the fact that Judge Blazs has continued to pursue advanced education during his time as a lawyer and judge - endeavors that are reflected in the wisdom of his rulings. I am confident that he will continue his record of judicial restraint and will evaluate every case that comes before him with integrity and objectivity."

Blazs has been a judge in Duval County since 2006, and was previously an assistant state attorney for the county.
