JACKSONVILLE, Fl. - Downtown Jacksonville will be packed with thousands of people this weekend for several big events including the Monster Truck Jam.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is trying to help the public navigate their way around the congestion. It is also offering some helpful tips to make your trip downtown as enjoyable as possible.
You are encouraged to take the bridge that is closest to where your car is parked as opposed to where you're starting from. Drop-off and pick-up is available on Georgia St. between Duval & Adams on Saturday until 9 p.m.
But most important, according to sheriff's officials, is that people give themselves plenty of time.
"The volume of traffic for this event, we don't have the roads that can hold that capacity. The only way you can fix that is to come early. The gates open at five," said Asst. Chief Leonard Propper during a news conference Thursday morning.
