Water main break shuts down part of Bay Street | News
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A broken water main has shut down the intersection of Bay Street and Ocean Street in downtown Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. It happened shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday.
The northbound inside lane of the Main Street Bridge is closed along with the outside lane, which exits onto Newnan Street, according to Sgt. Gail West with the sheriff's office.
Police are diverting traffic westbound on Bay Street to Newnan Street.
The 10-inch water main should be repaired by tomorrow, said Jane Upton, a spokesperson for JEA. The incident is not expected to disrupt traffic for Sunday's Jaguars game.
