General counsel shuts down City Council's plans to hire lobbyist | News
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The City of Jacksonville's General Counsel has issued a blistering response to the Jacksonville City Council members of their plans to hire a lobbyist.
The Council was planning on setting aside $160,000 to hire a lobbyist to represent the city in Tallahassee.
But Cindy Laquidara told the Council in writing today that any potential hires would be the Mayor's responsibility alone, and they have no power to hire someone themselves.
The Mayor's Office told First Coast News it already has an accomplished lobbyist working in Tallahassee.
The City Council meets Tuesday night.
