Police searching for man suspected of downtown murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office released the name of a man they believe is responsible for a fatal shooting in downtown Jacksonville Sunday evening.

Melissa Bujeda, Public Information Officer for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, said in a news release police are looking for 27-year-old James Hiawatha Russell.

Russell is wanted on charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Bujeda said.

Police believe Russell is responsible for the murder of Philippe Foster.

Foster was killed Sunday, November 4 near the intersection of A. Philip Randolph and Jessie Street.

Bujeda said Russell is described as being 6' tall, 175 pounds and should be considered armed and dangerous.
