You Should Know – On a conference call Wednesday, NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock fielded questions regarding certain draft prospects and NFL teams.  The well-respected draft guru says Andrew Luck, who many predict will go first in April’s draft, isn’t a “once in a lifetime” prospect and compared him to St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford, a former No. 1 overall selection.  When discussing the other top quarterback in this year’s draft, Mayock said he loves “everything” about Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.

Jaguars Bite of the Day – Jason Hill, former Jaguars wide receiver, signed a deal with the Denver Broncos yesterday.  Hill played in 16 games with the Jags over the last two seasons.  In 2011, he started 10 games, caught 25 passes for 367 yards and three touchdowns.  Hill, who turns 27 on Monday, was drafted by San Francisco in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

College Football Nugget – Four TCU football players were some of the 17 total students arrested on drug charges Wednesday.  According to the Fort Worth police warrant, one player said drug use was prevalent on the Horned Frogs’ squad.  From the report, a claim was made that three players were dealing drugs.  An investigation into junior linebacker Tanner Brock, who was one of those arrested, had been ongoing since early November.  A couple weeks ago, the football team was surprised by a drug test.  In a conversation with an undercover cop, Brock stated that there “would be about 60” players who failed that test.

Broadcasting Note – For Monday Night Football in 2012, the broadcast booth will feature a two-person team of Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden.  Former NFL quarterback Ron Jaworski, who had been in the MNF booth the last five years, was shown the door (ESPN paints it differently).  However, he agreed to a five-year deal with ESPN “in an expanded analyst role.”  Is this the network’s way of turning Gruden into a real star?

Strange Thought of the Day – Should “retired” NFL wide receiver Randy Moss pursue a reality television career?

Tweet of the last 24 hours – @drewmagary (Drew Magary, author and Deadspin contributor) “I don’t get MSG.  Are these Jeremy Lin games actually happening, or do they stage them on the same lot where they did the moon landing?”

Stat(s) of the Day – The Tampa Bay Rays extended manager Joe Maddon’s contract for another three years on Wednesday.  Under the 58-year-old Maddon, Tampa Bay has made the playoffs three of the last four seasons.  Over the past four years, the Rays have averaged 92 wins.

Link of the Day – The United States men’s national soccer team will play Scotland at EverBank Field on May 26.  Even though it’s a friendly, you should make plans to attend.

Video of the Day – A Division II basketball player throws down a monster Superman dunk.  It should have been an offensive foul though.

Question of the Day – Does “broadcaster” Jon Gruden become a head coach again after the 2012 football season?
