Police Investigating Fatal Shooting Downtown

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Homicide detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office are investigating a fatal shooting in Downtown Jacksonville.

Sgt. Mike Perry with JSO told First Coast News they received a call shortly after 3:15 Monday afternoon to shots fired.

When they arrived at the scene on West 19th Street emergency personnel with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department had already pronounced the victim dead.

Witnesses tell police the victim was riding his bicycle when a dark vehicle approached him and he was shot several times.

The victim has been identified as a black male but no age or name have been given by the sheriff's office.
