Jacksonville Giants It is official, the ABA Jacksonville Giants will host the 2012 ABA Southeastern Regional Playoff games March 17th and 18th.  The final round will be played at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on Sunday March 18th. 

You Should Know – Former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will meet with NFL investigators today.  Williams admitted to and apologized for running a bounty program while with New Orleans.  Payoffs were set for knocking targeted opponent(s) out of games.  The NFL investigation will include teams that have previously employed Williams.  Along with New Orleans, he’s coached for Tennessee, Buffalo, Washington and Jacksonville.  In January, Williams was hired by new St. Louis head coach Jeff Fisher to be the defensive coordinator.

You Should Know – The NFL preseason will kick off with the annual Hall of Fame game on August 5.  The Arizona Cardinals are slated to play the New Orleans Saints.  Last year’s Hall of Fame matchup was canceled because of the lockout.  The NFL Network will have this year’s coverage.  It’s only 157 days away, football fans.

You Should Know – For the first time ever in Major League Baseball, a player won an appeal of a suspension for a positive drug test.  That player, Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun, will not have to serve a 50-game suspension.  He failed a drug test back in October, and it was made public by ESPN in December.  The New York Daily News said Braun’s team challenged “the chain of custody” with the urine sample.  From Yahoo! Sports, the sample sat in a FedEx shop over the weekend, which “challenged the integrity” of it.  In a statement, Braun said, “It is the first step in restoring my good name and reputation.  We were able to get through this because I am innocent.”

THE ABA JACKSONVILLE GIANTS BASKETBALL TEAM  - The ABA Jacksonville Giants basketball team will play a special HOME GAME this weekend at the University of North Florida.  Doors open at 5:00 p.m.  Game scheduled for 6:00 p.m.  Tickets prices are $5 and $10.  The Giants Dance Team will perform their slam dunk half time show.  This was a real crowd pleaser this past Sunday when they unveiled it.  The special equipment land was provided by http://www.acrojaxgym.com/

You Should Know – Did you think you had heard your last “Manny Being Manny?”  Not so fast.  On Monday, it was announced that Manny Ramirez agreed to a minor-league deal with the Oakland Athletics.  Ramirez, who sat out most of last season, will serve a 50-game suspension.  The ban is due to a second failed drug test, under MLB rules.  His retirement was announced on April 8.  The deal with the A’s is worth about $500,000.  Ramirez, a 12-time All-Star, has played with Cleveland, Boston, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay.
