TODAY: YMCA Offers Week of Free Type 2 Diabetes Screening

One in three people in America are at risk for type 2 diabetes. That's more than 79 million people, according to the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes is the gateway to many additional health complications including, heart disease, nerve disease, kidney disease, stroke, blindness and more. Because diabetes is a silent and progressive disease, 50 percent of those at high risk do not realize it.

Type 2 diabetes is preventable if you make a change before it's too late, but there's no turning back once you receive a diagnosis.

Foreclosre Brings Mosquito Problems to Neighbors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Noel Peters has a well-maintained pool in her backyard.

The problem, she said, is the abandoned pool in her neighbor's backyard. "It has been abandoned for about three years," said Peters.

County records show the bank took possession of the property in August 2010. But when you walk around the house in the 7000 block of San Jose Boulvard, there is overgrown shrubs and a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Peters is worried about West Nile. "Labor Day it got so bad we kind of had to scoot everybody into the house," she said.
