PSS World Medical Looks to Expand

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- PSS World Medical (PSSI), a publicly traded company based in Jacksonville, specializes in providing medical supplies to doctors and care providers.

The company is also expanding into a "professional services company," according to PSS CEO Gary Corless.

Corless said PSS wants to help caregivers manage their business.  "They're trained in healthcare but they don't spend that much time on the business side.  So PSS is truly understanding their business and then being able to bring things to them to be able to strengthen their business."

PSS started in Jacksonville in 1983.  Now, there are 4000 employees company wide and 800 in Jacksonville.

The $2 billion a year business has two redistribution centers.

One of the centers is on the west coast and the other in Jacksonville on the Northside.
