 Friday, February 3, 2012 is National Wear Red Day and February is American Heart Month. The American Heart Association- First Coast Market is participating in and/or hosting a number of public events listed below. Why is this important? The Facts are Clear– More women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined. Unfortunately, the killer isn’t as easy to see. Many times heart disease is often silent, hidden and misunderstood.

Happy Heart Artist Reception     

Meet inspiring local artist, heart attack survivor and American Heart Association spokeswoman Vicky Lennon at the Jewish Community Alliance, 8505 San Jose Blvd. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Happy Heart collection will show from January 28 to February 22, 2012 at the Jewish Community Alliance. Main Street Bridge Go Red Event- Wear the wildest red you own and stand with the First Coast Go Red Team to wave at people entering and exiting downtown Jacksonville!  Participants should meet at the base of the Main Street Bridge on the Northside of the River at Bay and Main between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.

All Gender Casting Call to be held at the Avenues Mall from 3:30 p.m.  to 8:30 p.m. The American Heart Association is looking for volunteers and spokespeople and using the Casting Call at the Avenues Mall to find them!  For more information, please contact katie Seay at 904-256-5710  or swing by the event, located in front of Forever 21, near the Starbucks Kiosk. Walk up interviews are welcome.

Go Red Happy Hour Celebrate in your best red at the Go Red Happy Hour at Blackfinn American Grille! Wear Red Day, Friday February 3  6:00 p.m. - 8 p.m. BlackFinn American Grille, 4840 Big Island Dr. in the St. Johns Town Center

The event provides women of all generations with tips and information on healthy eating, exercise and risk factor reduction, such as smoking cessation, weight maintenance, blood pressure control and blood cholesterol management.
