Interesting local moms tell their stories | Families
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Your kids. Your spouse. Your job.
It seems everyone and everything gets your attention.
This month, Good Morning Jacksonville wants to pay attention to YOU, mom!
We are thankful this holiday season for mothers across the First Coast.
That's why the GMJ Team is featuring a mom with an interesting story to tell each Monday in November:
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2012 - ROZ McCOY
Roz was in the Navy, stationed in Virginia, when fellow shipmates surprised her by entering her in a comedy contest at a local club.
Roz took the challenge on the spot, winning third place without any practice!
That's what helped kick off her second career as a stand-up comedienne when her children were just ages 3 and 15.
Roz's major life change, as well as her story of surviving domestic violence while pregnant, has been an inspiration for other moms.
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2012 - TINA SMITH
Can you imagine taking care of 9 kids at once?
This is Tina Smith's life.
Her husband Jesse has 4 children. Tina has 3. Then Jesse and Tina recently had twin girls!
New living arrangements now have all 9 kids with Jesse and Tina on the weekends, but there's no break when it comes to being mom to kids, ages 15, 11, 10, 10, 9, 7, 3 and 7 month-old twins.
Tina discusses how she handles the stress and comments about outings with the kids as they prepare to celebrate the twins' 7-month birthday.
