First Coast Tea Party Event Features Nationally Recognized Guest Speakers

The First Coast Tea Party will host North Florida’s third annual Tax Day Tea Party Rally, April 15th, 6:30 to 9:30pm at Jacksonville Landing.  Guest speakers will include Governor Rick Scott, Andrew Breitbart of breitbart.com and comedians Jim Labriola for the Home Improvement show and The Santa Clause movie, and Victoria Jackson comedian on Saturday Night Live.  Nascar's "We The People" #89 Truck and driver Chris Lafferty will be there to sign autographs and meet the crowd. 

Ritz Chamber Players Present Pianist Aida Ribeiro Mechetti

The Ritz Chamber Players is proud to celebrate the return of pianist Aida Ribeiro Mechetti to the concert stage. Mrs. Mechetti, an accomplished performer and pedagogue, is the wife of Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra music director Fabio Mechetti.

The concert will feature Mrs. Mechetti performing Franz Schubert’s famed “Trout” Piano Quintet. Also included on the program are works by Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson and Robert Schumann.

On Saturday, April 30, all Team Teal members are invited to the Team Teal Draft Fest, which will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Pepsi Cabanas at EverBank Field.  Team Teal members will have the opportunity to meet alumni players, ROAR cheerleaders, Jaxson de Ville and possibly the Jaguars’ first-round draft pick.  The deadline to RSVP for the event is Monday, April 25th.

Tony Award-Nominated Actress Hallie Foote to Visit Jacksonville

Hallie Foote, daughter of Horton Foote and foremost interpreter of his work, will visit Jacksonville as part of her ongoing effort to advance her father's legacy as one of America's finest authors of the last century. The American actress was nominated for a Tony Award for her Broadway performance as Mary Jo in her father's comedy Dividing the Estate in 2009, the year of her father's death.

Horton is an American playwright and screenwriter who is perhaps best known for his Academy Award-winning screenplays To Kill a Mockingbird and Tender Mercies. His play, The Young Man From Atlanta, earned him a Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1995.

Ride the Beaches Trolley FREE on Sunday, April 17

The Beaches Trolley, a year?round service running between Atlantic Beach and Jacksonville Beach, including Neptune Beach, will be FREE on Sunday, April 17 in honor of the official Opening of the Beaches for summer fun. The Beaches Trolley will run from 5:46 a.m. to 12:43 a.m. Its route covers approximately five miles with nearly 40 stops in each direction including the Atlantic Village Shopping Center, Hugenot Park, Jacksonville Beach City Hall and the South Beach Regional Shopping Center. Hop on or off at any stop without paying a thing, and leave traffic and parking hassles behind!

HabiJax Celebrates ‘A Brush with Kindness’ Housing Repair Program

On April 15, HabiJax will celebrate the completion of 20 homes through a new housing repair program, aimed at providing exterior painting, landscaping, and minor repair services to low-income homeowners in need.  All the homes are located in the New Town Success Zone, an area just west of downtown Jacksonville.
