JACKSONVILLE GIANTS - The ABA Jacksonvlle Giants will hold a parade tomorrow, Thursday, May 3, 2012, at EVERBANK STADIUM. Mayor Alvin Brown will present the team its National Championship trophy along with a proclamation making May 3rd - Giants National Championship Day. Immediately following the parade, the GIants will provide free food for children12 and under. Parking is free at the Everbank Stadium.
You Should Know – New York Jets coach Rex Ryan had his first look at Jacksonville native Tim Tebow on the practice fields Tuesday. He said Tebow looked “outstanding” in limited drills. While speaking at a charity event, Ryan was quick to say the same thing about Jets starter Mark Sanchez. Ryan said he’s excited about the new offensive system under coordinator Tony Sparano. The Sanchez-Tebow quarterback dynamic will be analyzed for the entirety of the 2012 season. On Tebow, Ryan said, “He’s got size, he’s got strength, he’s got speed and he can throw the football.”
Jaguars Bite of the Day – The Jaguars will hold a three-day rookie mini-camp from Friday until Sunday at EverBank Field. The group includes 27 workout players, the six chosen in the 2012 NFL Draft and 17 collegiate free agents. “I think it’s a good group of workout-basis players that we were able to secure commitments out of,” Jaguars general manager Gene Smith said. “They’ll come in like any other undrafted players and get an opportunity to be evaluated.”
College Nugget – On Tuesday night, Florida coach Will Muschamp stopped at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds for his spring speaking tour. His main talking point: the Gators are a better team now than at any point last season. “The cohesiveness offensively and being more physical and running the ball, we are better than we were at any point last year because of experience, because of knowledge, because we’ve kept some continuity with some things terminology-wise,” Muschamp stated. “I’m excited about where we’re headed.”

Stat(s) of the Day – Tampa Bay third baseman Evan Longoria was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a partially torn left hamstring Tuesday. The three-time All-Star will miss the next four to eight weeks. Longoria, for the season, has been hitting .329 with four homeruns and 19 runs batted in.
