The Jacksonville Giants basketball team played the Chicago Fury Saturday night.  The Giants defeated the Fury.

You Should Know – Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, in my opinion, solidified himself as the No. 1 overall selection at the NFL’s Scouting Combine.  Last year, Auburn quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton impressed with a 4.59 time in the 40-yard dash, 35-inch vertical and 10-foot-6 broad jump.  Luck practically mirrored those numbers.  He had a 4.59, 36-inch vertical and 10-foot-4 broad.  For all the talk about Luck’s leadership qualities and pro-style quarterbacking skills, his athletic ability is equally as good.  Robert Griffin III will have to settle for the No. 2 overall pick, at best.

Jaguars Bite of the Day – Via the Florida Times-Union, Jaguars defensive tackle Tyson Alualu had surgery on his right knee recently.  Jacksonville head coach Mike Mularkey told the Times-Union on Friday that Alualu had his knee cleaned out.  The injury was initially sustained during the 2010 preseason.  From the Combine, Mularkey said, “When we played him when I was with Atlanta, he was a disruptive player on that knee and here’s a guy that’s going to hopefully come back full speed and see how much more he can improve from it.”

College Football Nugget – Last week, the NCAA voted to move the kickoff from the 30 to the 35-yard-line.  The new rule, which was approved by the NCAA playing rules oversight panel, will take effect in major college football beginning in 2012.  The change has been implemented to keep players safer.  The NFL began the same rule last year.  Touchbacks dropped because of it.

Broadcasting Note – At the Scouting Combine, Mississippi State running back Vick Ballard fell during his 40-yard dash.  He took out a tripod.  His official 40 time, of 4.65 seconds, was among the worst for running backs.

Strange Thought of the Day – Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine has banned alcohol from the clubhouse and on flights to Boston this season.  After last year’s collapse, are the Red Sox the American League favorite to win the wild card?

Tweet of the last 24 hours – @croninwhocares (Dan Cronin, writer for “Conan” on TBS) “This NBA medium-speed shoot-around is pretty entertaining.”

Stat of the Day – For the first time in the Daytona 500’s 54-year history, it was delayed for a day.  Heavy rain pushed through much of central Florida on Sunday.  The race will start Monday at noon.

Link of the Day – Major League Baseball’s testing program has flaws, according to AOL FanHouse columnist David Steele.

Video(s) of the Day – In last night’s NBA All-Star Game, Chris Paul bounce-passed the ball through his legs to Clippers teammate Blake Griffin.  Their chemistry is, obviously, building.

In the same game, LeBron James showed off a windmill dunk.

Question of the Day – We always hear that the Daytona 500 is like the Super Bowl of NASCAR.  Could you imagine the actual Super Bowl being postponed to Monday?
