Belk Charity Event and a Good Reason to Go Shopping!

Belk Spring Charity Sale - Belk will hold its annual Spring Charity Sale this Saturday morning at 6:00 a.m. to benefit local charities, schools and nonprofit organizations throughout the company’s 16-state market area.

A $5 charitable donation gains customers admission to a private sale with merchandise discounts ranging from an extra 20 to 70 percent off on items throughout the store, including special savings on rarely discounted brands. Customers will also receive $5 off their first purchase of $5 or more at the event, and Belk cardholders will receive double Rewards points (and Belk Elite cardholders, triple Rewards points) for card purchases.

Diaper Drive to Benefit FSS and Families in Crisis

A local Day of Service sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) will be held Saturday, April 16 to benefit Family Support Services of North Florida (FSS), Second Harvest of North Florida, Northeast Florida Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Blood Alliance.

Jacksonville-area LDS members are donating and collecting community donations of diapers, food and blood as part of their Helping Hands and Linking Arms service day. The LDS diaper drive in support of FSS Family Preservation programs also includes baby wipes, Pull-Ups, toddler underwear, and infant and toddler socks.

Jacksonville ASPCA Needs Your Votes in the National $100K Challenge

The City of Jacksonville is now in 10th place for the national ASPCA $100K challenge! 

This is an online voting event and 93 agencies qualified to participate in the challenge. Jacksonville went from 68th, to 37th and as of today, Jacksonvile is number 10. 

Jacksonville has until Friday to collect enough votes to reach the number one spot and people can vote every single day.

The Board of Directors of The Bridge of Northeast Florida Inc. awarded Board member and local attorney David Edwards with their President’s Award at the board meeting on April 6, 2011.  Edwards was selected for this award for outstanding service to the organization through his professional expertise and advocacy efforts over the past three years.

HabiJax Celebrates ‘A Brush with Kindness’ Housing Repair Program

On April 15, HabiJax will celebrate the completion of 20 homes through a new housing repair program, aimed at providing exterior painting, landscaping, and minor repair services to low-income homeowners in need.  All the homes are located in the New Town Success Zone, an area just west of downtown Jacksonville.
