Innovative warm scrubs prevent healthcare workers from “freezing” on the job

A new product is warming the hearts and hands of healthcare professionals all over the U.S.

ThermScrub, the original warm scrub, allows healthcare employees to stay warm on the job without needing extra layers of clothing to prevent shivering from the cold. Made from the same polyester fleece favored by cold-weather outfitters, the breathable ThermScrub is moisture, odor and stain resistant.

When worn with an undershirt, ThermScrub tops and pants keep users 30 percent warmer than regular scrubs. Also lightweight, ThermScrub is extremely durable and soft enough to use as sleepwear. ThermScrub tops are $16.95 each, and ThermScrub bottoms are $15.95 each. All are available online at http://www.thermscrub.comin adult sizes XS through XXXL.

Bob Perez, founder and inventor of ThermScrub, came up with the idea for his product while working 18 years as a radiology technologist. Perez, who saw his co-workers constantly shivering, identified a need and filled it.

Perez spent about six years of trial and error to test fabrics for durability and warmth, as well as assess design and aesthetics. Since launching, the company has grown to offer its long-sleeved, poly-fleece warm scrubs in nine colors. Perez ships ThermScrub orders to hospitals and clinics as far away as Hawaii.

“We’ve had nothing but positive feedback since coming to the market because ThermScrub solves one of the biggest workplace complaints from hospital employees — working in an extremely cold environment can be very frustrating,” Perez said. “It can be difficult to start an IV with numb, cold fingers, carry a tray with a bad case of the shivers, or lend a compassionate hand, but ThermScrub removes all of those worries.”

Perez, who now works in healthcare management, turned over daily operations of the company to his son, Brodie Perez.

“We believe ThermScrub is the next logical evolution for scrubs,” said ThermScrub President of Operations Brodie Perez. “First scrubs were white only, then green, then multiple colors and cartoon characters entered the scene. Here, we created the very first warm scrub. And our positive customer feedback affirms we solved a great need after all these years.”
