Fathers are categorized, classified, labeled and tagged by society. Fathers face a tremendous responsibility in raising their families as a whole and working with the individual characteristics of children and other family members.

Local artist, Kedgar Volta, will present ǝɯ embellished tonight, Wednesday, October 3, at downtown’s Hispanic Art Walk from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on the corner of West Monroe and North Laura Streets, across from the Jacksonville Public Library (333 North Laura Street). ǝɯ embellished is a public art project that challenges viewers to examine how self-perception aligns with public perception when we abandon our usual appearances.
Students returned to school to engage in new learning. Active in learning that will shape their understanding of the world and guide contributions to society. Students attending higher education just as my son have taken the trip long or short distances to make it to their schools with parents in tow. Parents making sure their sons or daughters are prepared for the rigors of education.

The opportunity to share in dialogue about the progressive nature and transformative events of the past 30 years. How public education has taken a turn for the better or worse. The historical changes from policies, desegregation, parental involvement and faculty accountability. These elements have a profound effect not just on Raines, but Duval County Public Schools and the move from a traditional Southern mentality towards educational diversity and inclusion.
