TODAY: WICKED Tickets On Sale October 16

 

After breaking box office records and selling out in record time in 2009, WICKED, Broadway’s biggest blockbuster, will return to Jacksonville at the Times-Union Center’s Moran Theater from January 4-22, 2012 for 24 performances.  Tickets for the return engagement go on sale Sunday, October 16th.

TONIGHT: Local Breast Cancer Survivors Model in "Pink Carpet" Fashion Show

Last year’s first annual “An Evening on the Pink Carpet” event proved to be a huge success and is back to showcase more than 20 breast cancer reconstruction patients in fabulous fashions from participating area boutiques and stores.  The models are patients of Dr. Rebecca Glasser of Parkway Plastic Surgery, and will grace the stage on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Florida Theatre.  The event is hosted by The Donna Foundation and Parkway Plastic Surgery and presented by MIA Styling.

Cassidy Cole-Tucker, 10, Named Winner of Hubbard House Youth Art Contest

 

Cassidy Cole-Tucker, a 10-year-old from Jacksonville, Florida, is the grand prize winner in Hubbard House’s 2nd Annual Youth Art Contest. The purpose of this art contest was to raise awareness about abuse among youth and to motivate them to engage in friendly behavior in their home, at school and in their communities. This year’s theme was “Hands are for Helping, Not Hurting.”

The Postal Service is asking Americans for suggestions on who should be the first living person to be honored on a U.S. postage stamp. Until now, a person has to have been dead for five years before appearing on a stamp. The post office has been facing severe financial problems, and a boost in stamp collecting would mean additional revenue.
