Aggravated Battery Warrant

On April 4, 2011 police in Orange City Texas investigated an Aggravated Battery incident around 6:00 a.m.

The investigation revealed the suspect Horace Dempsey (Orange City, Texas) hit his grandmother with a hammer several times and fled the state of Texas in her white Ford Mustang. The suspect has ties in Jacksonville and is believed to be in the city.

Suns Drop Season Opener 4-1

The Jacksonville Suns opened the 2011 season with a 4-1 loss to the Huntsville Stars in front of 7,366 fans at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville on Thursday night.

Suns starter Dallas Trahern allowed three runs to the Stars in the top of the first to stake Huntsville to an early lead, but Trahern was locked in for the rest of his five innings on the mound as he made his first start since May 8, 2009. Trahern missed the majority of the 2009 season with an elbow injury, and missed all of 2010 recovering from “Tommy John” surgery.

I-10 resurfacing and widening project between Lane Avenue and Halsema Road

I-10 westbound from Lane Avenue to the I-295 on ramp WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED from 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 until 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 10. Detour signs will be posted. The ramp to I-10 westbound from Lane Avenue WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED from 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 10. Detour signs will be posted.  The I-10 westbound off ramp to I-295 WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED from 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 until 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 10. Detour signs will be constructed. I-10 eastbound from SR 23 to I-295 MAY BE TOTALLY CLOSED from 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 14 until 5 a.m. on Friday, April 15. Single eastbound lanes will be closed between 6:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. and westbound lanes may be closed between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. from Sunday, April 10 to Thursday, April 14. This project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2012.

JSO Seeks Sexual Battery Suspect

On March 19, 2011 at 5:00 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the vicinity of Beaver Street and McDuff Avenue in reference to a sexual battery.

Investigation revealed the suspect entered the victim’s residence, displayed a weapon, and sexually battered the victim.
