Ken's Top 10 Travel Mistakes To Avoid

Ken's Top 10 Travel Mistakes To Avoid

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- This summer, if you're planning to travel, don't make the mistakes that can cost you money.

Here are my top 10 travel mistakes to avoid and ways to put more money in your pocket.

Number 10: Failing to inspect your rental car before taking the keys; at that point you are liable for every scratch and dent.

This mistake is easy to avoid. Find someone to inspect the vehicle before you accept it. Note any damage and get them to sign off. Some rental companies have started a program to take pre-rental pictures of their cars.

Number Nine: Failing to buy travel insurance

If you're going on a cruise, spend a few extra bucks for cancellation insurance. There are two types of policies, primary and secondary. Primary covers you from the first penny, and secondary kicks in after your own private insurance, like homeowners, has paid out.

Kickstarter.com embraced by 'Fit For Rivals' for album funding

I just saw that local band 'Fit For Rivals' started a Kickstarter page to help fund the production for their next album. While I am new to their music, I can say they sound good and that it's awesome they took the web to keep it alive.

'SUNBEARS!' as you may know did and overreached their pledged goal of $8,000 with $9,555. I would love this idea to be applied to other local bands or projects that maybe aren't even well known. Embrace what resources you can!

If you wanted to help back the album you have about a month to do so in this way.

Poll on Race for President Picks a Different Leader

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A few years ago President Barak Obama failed to win Duval County in his bid for the White House. If the elections were held today he would get the same results, our Dixie/First Coast News exclusive poll revealed.

Thirty-seven percent of those in the poll would vote to re-elect Obama as president, while 48-percent would support the Republican nominee. Fifteen percent said they were still undecided.
