Job Fair in Downtown Jacksonville

Job Fair in Downtown Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Rep. Corrine Brown was in town today hosting the 19th annual Job and Resource Fair at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

In 2009, the fair drew about 10,000 job seekers; last year the number had increased to 14,000, and more than 110 employers expect more today.

"With so many people in Florida out of work, this is, unfortunately, an extraordinarily difficult time for job seekers both in the state of Florida, as well as around the nation," said Brown.

"That said, attendance at the Job Fair is even more important this year, since it will provide a great opportunity for those searching for work to network and speak directly with prospective employers."

Nearly 150 companies and agencies are signed up to be at the fair.

The resource portion of the fair included workshops for people to improve their job-seeking skills, plus representatives will be on hand to assist people with mortgage and foreclosure questions.
